These marbles represented “sins” and the water in the pool represented “cleansing of sins.” The children also worked together by playing a sea turtle game, in which kids huddled in groups of four and balanced a beach ball on their backs while moving towards a basket. Children had an opportunity to attempt taking little marbles out of a kiddie pool using their feet and placing them into a cup. Once they finished the pinwheels, they held them up to a fan to make them spin in circles.ĭalton’s daughter Abby was in charge of outdoor games. Children also made pinwheels, which symbolized the wind and Jesus’ presence - both of which cannot be seen but can be felt. Kids took turns pushing the little marbles through the highway by pushing the big marble (representing Jesus) into them. The children designed blue T-shirts with red-and-white life preservers and write “Jesus rescues us.” Kids also played marbles on the “highway of life.”ĭalton showed them that, although there are bumps on the road, one can always get through with help from Jesus. “It’s a great thing for kids to do.”ĭalton started the day by blowing “bubbles of inspiration” for children to catch in order to spark their creativity. Through the week of June 18, children from both Dalton United Methodist Church and Factoryville United Methodist Church were split into five groups called Moe, Guac, Rae, Hope and Beacon. Making those decisions was all part of the imagination station in this year’s VBS (Vacation Bible School) themed “Shipwrecked: Rescued by Jesus.” Another scenario is what would they use for shelter - a cave or lean-to. One scenario was what would they eat - a squid sandwich or a seaweed salad. DALTON - Children at Dalton United Methodist Church were given options about what they would do if stranded on a deserted island.
